Dina Shawar
Since early 2019, Dina Shawar has been the CEO of Adam Tech Ventures, a seed stage $5M fund investing $50,000- $250,000 tickets in technology startups in MENA. Dina redesigned the fund investment thesis and structure as soon as she started managing the fund. She currently manages an active portfolio of 12 companies. Dina’s focus with the portfolio companies is centered around unit economics, profitability, talent acquisition as well as follow-on funding.
Since August 2021, Dina has been teaching at Entrepreneurship and Innovation at King’s Academy. This course was born after Dina was invited to lead the Entrepreneurship and Innovation co-curricular in fall of 2020. Dina additionally consults with King’s Academy and is working with the school’s leadership on how to think more intentionally about scaling impact and outreach.
Between 2015 and 2018, she was a Senior Investment Associate at Silicon Badia; one of the leading Venture Capital firms investing across the MENA region. Prior to Silicon Badia, Dina spent two years working with Oasis500, a seed-stage investment fund and accelerator in the Middle East. She graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London with a BSc honours degree in Economics, Politics and International relations.
Dina is a certified board director by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and serves as board member of the King’s Academy Alumni Association (KAAA). She also serves on advisory board of many startups in Jordan and the region.
She has been a speaker and judge in many international, regional and local events such as TechCrunch BattleField, World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings, SeedStars World and STEP conference.
