Aya Khairy

Senior Director, Marketing and Learning, Microfund for Women

Aya Khairy is a professional with a wide range of leadership experience in multinational and nonprofit

organizations and settings. Khairy is a McGill graduate who strives for excellence and is dedicated to

spearheading projects for social development, creating a positive impact and devising strategies for long

term sustainability. She is driven by her passion for personal and professional development, social and

gender equity, environmental and cultural sustainability, and early childhood education.

Aya joined the Microfund for Women (MFW) team early 2019 with a mission to develop the MFW

Learning Academy in terms of methodology, innovation, impact, reach and scalability. Khairy’s usual

reliability and natural instinct in both work and personal situations made her the perfect candidate for

taking on the Marketing and Communications Department leadership during COVID-19 epidemic and

the resulting period of instability. She was then assigned the position in the long run due to her fast and

measurable results.

Prior to her tenure at MFW, Aya served at the Petra National Trust (PNT) assuming the position of

Executive Director starting May 2016. Khairy’s contributions to PNT included raising the profile of the

organization locally, regionally and globally and creating a sustainably and growth strategy for the

organization.

Khairy’s career in Amman began when she returned from the Gulf where she consulted for and held

senior positions at a number of prominent educational organizations and NGOs. Upon her return, she

served as a founding member of and later Senior Manager for Programming and Administration at the

Columbia University Middle East Research Centre.

Her emotional intelligence and instinct are backed by academic training, extensive and well-rounded

experience, and wide range of skills, all furthered by the fact that she is a single mother of two. She is

extremely passionate about women issues, education, and entrepreneurship and makes it a point to

give time to advising and volunteering with a number of individuals, initiatives and NGOs such as the

Jordanian chapter of Girls in Technology and Youth Association for Reality and Awareness.
